Some people say that Amelia is a cyclist or a runner or could just pass for a swimmer, she is not just one of theses she is all 3, she is a Triathlete.
I am a hardworking, committed, dedicated and passionate triathlete who loves encouraging women to live a healthy balanced life through completing in triathlons and being part of the triathlon community.
My goal is to be a professional triathlete. I believe I have the drive to achieve this with the support of my community and organisations that promote our sport. Through my facebook and website I want to show all women that absolutely anything is possible, all you have to do is start.
Amelia was born in Brisbane and trains and lives in the beautiful river city. Always playing sports in her youth and teenage years, Amelia dabbled in school cross country and entered her first fun run at age 13 with some encouragement from her Uncle. She continued racing and training for fun runs for many years, always wanting to do a triathlon but never quite getting here. After getting heavily involved in netball and deciding to train and race a half marathon with the hopes to one day compete a marathon a severe grade 2 ankle sprain, almost tearing the ligaments from the bone put this dream on hold. With the devastating injury the physio advised Amelia she could ride a bike, a bike was promptly purchased and there was now no excuse not to do a triathlon. In November of 2011 Amelia completed her first Triathlon as part of the Gatorade series at Raby Bay and has never looked back.
Building up to her Olympic distance debut at the iconic Noosa Triathlon Amelia smashed her predicted time by 8mins and loved every minute of the race and the atmosphere. Since completing this first Olympic distance Amelia was hooked and set her sight high-Representing Australia and the Age Group World Championship.
Amelia qualified in 6th place in her age group and represented Australia at the ITU World Championships Grand final in Edmonton, Canada in September 2014
Amelia is very involved in the corporate health sector, working as a clinical exercise physiologist in Brisbane. Amelia is passionate about educating and training people to live fuller healthier lives through her knowledge gained throughout her degree and work.
